The counterattack is an advanced tactic. When the opponent attacks something, you have a tendency to respond to the attack. However, this is not mandatory. There are situations in which it is smarter to organize a counterattack.

The difficulty of the counterattack is that you keep all options open by considering many different moves. For a counterattack to be effective, it is important that the counterattack is more threatening than the opponent's attack.
